I retired as a local orthopedic surgeon here in Charlottesville and chose a national Commercial brokerage group with a Charlottesville office, to list our office space. Unfortunately, there was limited communication and poor marketing that resulted in one potential buyer over a period of 12 months. After 30 days of due diligence on our space, the buyer realized that her current landlord would not allow her out of her 5-year lease. The buyer should have been prequalified by our commercial agents, including an understanding that the landlord would approve early termination.

The next problem occurred when the agents allowed the Commercial MLS listing to expire. They only knew this occurred after I brought the concern to them. They explained that their management had failed to renew subscription agreements. We mutually discontinued the listing agreement.
